This site is a labor of love.
My best friend and “sister”, Dearest, was the founder of Power Surge – first on America Online, then as a free-standing site for over 20 years. We were close friends for about 18 of those years, talking about every other day for 2-3 hours at a time.
After she died in August, 2013, her daughters felt that I was the best one to take over Power Surge. However, it developed some malware over the previous few months which I don’t know how to fix.
I’ve gone into the back end of PS and copied thousands of pages, many of which will show up here – eventually.
Dearest had so many words of wisdom and advice. It would be a shame to lose them. So I decided to start this site in her memory.
Her site was power-surge.com This one is power-surge.co Pretty darn close!
I love you and will miss you always…

Oh, Mary, I didn’t know! Dearest will be missed! Zelma (zj)
Boy, Zelma – we sure go way back, don’t we? Fun times on AOL. LOL
I miss Dearest each and every day. I still can’t believe she’s not here to talk to, to laugh with, just to be…
AOL – wow, that was a long time ago, wasn’t it? Power Surge was a God-sent when I went through early peri-menopause in my 30’s and then full menopause with my hysterectomy in my early 40’s. Dearest brought the best people to “talk” with us on-line! It was really neat when my husband got to help her with computer problems in NY from Texas! I can’t believe how long that’s been!!!
I was one of the first members of Powersurge and use to talk with Alice (Dearest) either on line or by phone daily. What a dear sweet lady she was. We even exchanged gifts at one time. She sent me a subscription to Vanity Fair and I sent her a braclet from Talbots. I lived in Atlanta at the time. It has been probably been 12 years since I have talked to her. Can someone please tell me what happened to her that she died at the young age I myself a. Would love a response.

Thanks for sharing, Betty. Alice was a good friend to so many of us over the years.
As I’m sure you must know, she was a very private person. Her family and I thought it was best to honor her wishes.
If you’d like to leave a message in her Memorial Book, that’s here http://jewish-funeral-home.com/funeral-home-service-schedule-detail.php?id=7387
I have been told that Alice died in her sleep. I am grateful that she didn’t suffer.
